Who we are
Christ Church Cathedral lives God’s love in downtown Nashville through our worship and welcome, curiosity and community, and care of all people.
We are called to be
- Disciples who find the love of God in prayer and in the celebration of Holy Communion
- Evangelists who share God’s plan to renew and restore all creation to wholeness in Christ
- Friends who welcome the stranger, bear each other’s burdens, and share God’s healing power in Christ’s name
- Stewards who honor and safeguard God’s abundance in our lives and acknowledge the Holy Trinity–Creator God, Son, and Holy Spirit–as the source of all
- Servants who seek the face of Christ in every human being and strive for the justice and peace of God
Christ Church Cathedral is a welcoming and inclusive faith community.
We are a Cathedral Parish in the Diocese of Tennessee
As part of The Episcopal Church, Christ Church Cathedral belongs to a regional body of churches known as a diocese. We are not a standalone congregation, but a parish of the Diocese of Tennessee. We are overseen by our bishop, The Right Reverend John Bauerschmidt, who serves as chief pastor of the diocese.
As a cathedral, we are also the seat of our bishop and the place for diocesan celebrations and worship services. The Episcopal Church is also part of the Anglican Communion, a worldwide gathering of Anglican and Episcopal churches in over 165 countries.
